15/04/2019 Ellen McKeown was the youngest daughter of Robert and Eliza McKeown. Robert McKeown and Eliza Skeffington were married on 17th October 1872 in the district of Cookstown.
15/04/2019 Ellen ‘Nellie’ McKeown was born on 10th August 1887. She was the youngest of nine children. All the children were born in the Moneymore – Coagh area.

15/04/2019 The 1901 census lists Nellie as age 13, living with the family at house 15 in Tamlaght, Springhill, County Londonderry. Nellie was still at school. Her father was a farmer.

15/04/2019 The 1911 census lists Ellen as age 23, a hospital nurse living at house 192.2 in Falls Road, St Anne's Ward, Belfast. It may be presumed that she was working and the Royal Victoria Hospital.
15/04/2019 The History of Coagh booklet lists Staff Nurse Ellen McKeown as having served with the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve (Q.A.I.M.N.S.R.) in the war.

15/04/2019 Nurse Nellie McKeown was living at the Nurses Home, The Infirmary, Belfast when she was received a letter informing her of acceptance to the Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve on 2nd February 1917.
