Summary
Little of known of John Cooney. He came from Ardboe. Private Cooney went to the front in early 1916. He was wounded twice at the Somme, but, up till early 1918, had come through many subsequent heavy engagements unhurt. He was serving with the Royal Munster Fusiliers when he was home on leave in February 1918. Private John Cooney survived the war. He was about 29 years old when the war ended.
