John Kielty was the son of John and Grace Kielty. He was born in Coagh in 1891. They were a farming family. In 1912 John married Rebecca Jane Wray in Glasgow. They went on to have at least two children. Prior to enlisting John Kielty was employed as sheet iron worker. John Kielty enlisted on 24th June 1916. He was 26 years old. Private Kielty served throughout 1917. On 16th February 1918 Private Kielty was released as a soldier for shipbuilding. Private Kielty was discharged on 13th March 1919.
