Summary
The only Private Joseph Marshall that can be found from the local area was from the Moneymore area. Joseph Marshall was the son of Joseph and Sarah Marshall. He was born on 5th January 1893 in Moneymore. His father was a farm labourer. Previous to the war Private Joseph Marshall was serving with the Royal Irish Fusiliers in India. On the outbreak of war, his regiment was sent directly to France. In the winter of 1914 he was hospitalised with frostbite. In 1916 he was severely wounded in the foot and it was amputated. He was afterwards discharged from the army.
