Robert Hudson was the eldest son of James and Jane Hudson. James Hudson and Jane Cochrane were married on 16th April 1884 in the district of Magherafelt.

Robert Hudson was born on 4th October 1888 in the Bellaghy area.

1915
|
Robert Hudson enlisted in Scotland on 29th January 1915. He was living at 23 Donaldson Street, Kirkintilloch, Glasgow.

Private Robert Hudson served with the 14th Battalion of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders in the war. He head the Service No 3350 and also S/40591.

1916
|
On 1st May 1916 Robert was promoted to corporal. On 24th June 1916 he reverted to his previous rank at own request.

On 20th October 1916 Robert was appointed lance corporal. On 27th December 1916 he reverted to his previous rank at own request.

1917
|
Private Robert Hudson arrived at Etaples with his unit on 3rd January 1917. He was posted to the 14th Battalion of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders on 22nd January 1917.

On 26th November 1917 Robert Hudson was appointed lance corporal.

1918
|

Private James Hudson is home on leave. Prior to enlisting he was farming, but he joined, and has been over two years at the front, and has been is several hot engagements. It is over a year since he had leave. He is feeling in the best of health and spirits. His brother, Private Bob Hudson, is in the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders.
