From the Mid Ulster Mail dated 15th January 1916:
‘France, 17th December 1915. We, the undersigned, take the liberty of writing to you these few lines to thank you and all the other members of the Moneymore Women’s Working Guild for the very nice presents sent to us. We would like to make it known to all how much we appreciated these presents, for they came in very useful, especially as it is getting very cold out here. I am sure you will be glad to hear that all the Moneymore boys are well and in the best of spirits. We had a very good time while in the trenches, only the weather was very wet and cold. We believe that if some of the Moneymore boys knew what they were missing, they would make a rush for the nearest recruiting office and join at once. Hoping you will excuse us for taking the liberty of writing to you, and wishing you all a very happy Xmas.
