15/04/2019 Robert and Eliza McKeown (the Nellie McKeown family) did have a son called George. It is not known if this is him.
15/04/2019 The Roll of Honour of Tamlaght National School which appeared in the Mid Ulster Mail on 10th June 1916, records that George S McKeown was a Corporal in the South Irish Horse.

09/04/2019 The History of Coagh booklet lists Sergeant George McKeown as having served with the Leinster Regiment in the war.
