Among the soldiers recently home on leave was Private W J Corr, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers (son of Mr William Corr, Drumada), who was only 18 years old when he joined up in the early days of the war. In October 1916, he got badly wounded in the fighting round Cuinchy. After some time in hospital he returned to the war zone and two months later, at Mons, he again got wounded. This time he got sent home to an English hospital, and on his return he left the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers and joined the Royal Irish Rifles as sniper. He is looking fit and feels confident of victory soon. He returned to his unit on Monday. |
