The History of Coagh booklet lists Sergeant George McKeown as having served with the Leinster Regiment in the war. The Roll of Honour of Tamlaght National School which appeared in the Mid Ulster Mail on 10th June 1916, records that George S McKeown was a Corporal in the South Irish Horse. Robert and Eliza McKeown (the Nellie McKeown family) did have a son called George. It is not known if this is him.
