The family lived at Crumlin Cottage, Coagh. Thomas emigrated to America. Prior to enlisting. He was living in New York. He was working as a chauffeur. Thomas enlisted in July 1918 in Canada. Thomas MacKeown was the son of James and Mary Jane McKeown. Samuel McKeown and Mary Jane McCotter were married on 31st October 1872 in the district of Ballymoney.
Thomas Arthur McKeown was born on 19th July 1887. He was one of at least eight children, all born in the Coagh area.

Thomas’ father, James McKeown, died on 17th June 1910 in Coagh. He was 74 years old.
The 1911 census does not list Thomas as living with his widowed mother and brother at house 10 in Mullaghtironey, Coagh.
Thomas emigrated to the United States of America.
Prior to enlisting. Thomas Arthur MacKeown was living at 45 East 65th Street, New York, USA. He was working as a chauffeur.
Thomas MacKeown enlisted on 15th July 1918 at Petawawa Camp, Ontario, Canada. He listed his next of kin as his mother, Mary Jane McKeown, who was living at Crumlin Cottage, Coagh.
Private Thomas MacKeown served with the Canadian Army Service Corps.
He arrived in England on 25th September 1919 on HMT Durham Castle. He Arrived at Seaforde 27th November 1918.
